A Tree in the Forest

a sapling that never grew
its future exposed in lifelessness
its life gone before she held it
before mourning

she knelt in the forest
tears to soil
senseless ending in her hands
the life that might've been lingered
as helplessness

a fingertip caressed its limbs
her uselessness
the mighty flora that'd never be
was the shade tree she'd longed to see
and never would

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
