Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

At a window that was forever the night she sang from the emptiness that knew her heart’s deepest longing. Starlight accepted her questioning and wiped her silver tears when moonlight found her grief. Even if she counted the stars there’d … Continue reading

Only Love
Chance, happenstance, accidental, but maybe fate. His voice, oh, his voice, indelible in her heart even decades later. Strong, gentle. Kind and insightful. Her, all wrong, too slow to recognize love, one love, the only love, and then he was … Continue reading

Her Before
Before the night she died, she sat up late wondering at her hope for the future. The night before. Before she was thrust onto the table and her future bled out. Before her breath was stolen, she’d huddled beneath a … Continue reading

Noir Rain
Bleeding lives in a dead place forgotten. If not for the cannonade in her head she’d wonder if she was breathing, or was she dreaming in a monochrome storm again? Wafting shadows scattering remembered existence. Screaming whispers swore their outrage … Continue reading

Sideways
Dreaming sideways, casting aside residual sorrow to tumble evermore into a valley burning. Loss, it cried, liquid silver caressing her cheeks while a gasping heart choked her throat. Standing sideways, swaying in mourning sunrise pain where hushed breaths came earlier … Continue reading

Visitation
Transparent silhouette, faithful apparition. Zealous, you were, in your devotion, as was your love so often. That last embrace lingers still, still my heart, catches my breath, though your arms aren’t here to hold me. You’ve become a caressing breeze, … Continue reading

Stepping Stones to Chaos
Another moment of silence following more senselessness to abhor, etching more stones in grieving, hearing more answers we’ll ignore. Outrage over trivialities, apathy when victims die, walking the stepping stones to chaos while too few wonder why. There’s no end … Continue reading

The Way of Things
It’s difficult to navigate in a tailspin. I’ll be okay. I’m a survivor, so I’ll survive. I’ll move on. It’s been a rough week so this post is to let everyone know I’m putting off some of my online plans … Continue reading
