Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

When Worldbuilding Spawns Gifts
This is another story about worldbuilding spawning an element I didn’t realize existed until years later. Like—oh, I don’t know—about twenty years later? It’s another reason I’m grateful for my own worldbuilding. I’m referring to mysquanmic volcanism. It came about … Continue reading

A Pill to Hold
How lucky she was, how fortunate in so many ways, there were no more worries, even on cloudy days. There was a pill for loneliness, a substitute for hugs, a pill to whisper to her each night, a substitute for … Continue reading

Refreshing Prose When Editing
I’m currently performing a self-edit of Protecting the Pneuma Key, but an edit with a difference. To say I was nervous, that I worried my new approach would accomplish little, was an understatement. The good news is, it’s going better … Continue reading
The Journey that Mattered
There was wondering who she was, and then there was finding herself. There was discovering judgement, and there was uncovering the hate. There was also uncovering the love, when it was brave enough to speak. There was recognizing the fear, … Continue reading

Boxes

My Map Problem
Yes, my map problem, not to be confused with math problems. If it was that I wouldn’t be calm. Honestly, most writers wouldn’t consider my map problem a problem at all when they forego maps in the first place. Though … Continue reading

Azure Fog
Azure fog, its blue moon glow soothing all directions in an etherial forest, whispering, holding her hand, making her understand the heartbeat she followed was near. In a forest waiting, arms beckoned, her steps finding a cliffside path where the … Continue reading

Return
New life, it was contained in each new breath, each inhale an opportunity, each exhale the moment to begin. A heart in haste settled, synchronizing with her lungs, her mind settling while air flowed in and out. How strange, but … Continue reading
