Not Standing Still

Fretting, worrying,
she'd known it all,
tears of helplessness
to make her feel small.

When her awakening came
it was finding that trying
quieted the fearfulness,
ended the crying.

Not trying to try,
but trying to do,
for in the striving
did she become someone new.

Maybe it was true
that in not standing still
she was making life happen,
she was wielding free will.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
