Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Buy
Buy, buy, buy, and buy some more, buy a bigger house, fill the floors. Keep it new, keep you poor, keep it disposable and easily stored. Build lots of sheds to block the view, work more hours to pay for … Continue reading

She Wouldn’t Look Away
She braced, eyes wide open, the offense that was violence on full display, she took in senseless actions taking lives, taking away children before they’d lived, taking away the healing with more violence. As it should be, she wouldn’t look … Continue reading

Disrespect
Me, a selfish concept or a perspective I need? See me, hear me, the me I need to be, the person I expect you to respect, to accept, or we’re done before we’ve begun. Why then, I wonder, as I … Continue reading

Rare Embrace
Clock ticking, she can hear it, there’s clicking, her heels on the pavement as she runs away from herself. It shouldn’t be possible while standing still, when the pain she’s holding is immeasurable. Where to run when ghosts are everywhere? … Continue reading

Outside Looking Out
Living apparitions on the edge of a dream, here, but not gone, somewhere in-between. Walking an edge cutting off their dreams, knowing society has no room at the acceptance inn. Unfinished lives striving to become aware, different, outside looking out, … Continue reading

Ink
Tomorrow place, forever land, a world of ink meant for pages, trauma transformed in meditation, what was once pain at last a hurt that passes through, a wound repurposed. Not a past rewritten, but a new perspective, tales for hearts … Continue reading

Caught Between
Push and pull, caught in the middle, growing up too fast and not growing up at all. She wanted to hide, to cry in silence. She wanted to scream, let them know why. It made no sense wanting to die, … Continue reading

Potentiality
See you, see in. Seeing yourself is where you begin. To discover, open your eyes, see strengths and weaknesses, possibilities, and lies. All of you is who you are, you’re potentiality. In your pursuit of self-honesty you’ll become what the … Continue reading

Fabric
Peace. Clock ticking. A stranger clears his throat. Cars pass by. A plane overhead. Clouds, wind-borne, flee twilights end. Incense. Evening tea. Candle casting shadows. The flame gives light, the gesture genuine, not fake. All woven, a fabric, stronger in … Continue reading
