Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Bucket Full of Stars
Time adjourned, drums long sounding, sounding still, without solace. The energy within strained to know more, to break all bonds, explore the universe. She sought the room for a mind’s escape, for freedom from hate, freedom from limitations. It was … Continue reading

Who She’d Be
They told her she’d never be good enough, that her worthiness qualified her for nothing. They judged, seeing her like the world, through their hatred, insisting in whispers, she was less than human. Who would she be, if being her … Continue reading

Becoming
If not now, when? In the springtime of her mind, becoming who? Choosing, dream sleep stirring waking the way. A hand closing doubt. Sensation racing across an ebony sky, touching alabaster. A scream falling silent, tranquility’s fluttering wings. Emergence, wearing … Continue reading

In a Room Meant for One
In a room meant for one, the storm within shared space with dysphoria, the face looking back not her own. In a room holding two, other thoughts wrestled her own, the other voice accepted by those who didn’t know the … Continue reading

Different
It required half-a-life to find the self within, the voice inside, her self-compassion. The reward that followed was cruel ignorance, the hatred of others, blind vengeance. Her assigned role was taking her soul, creating a victim, but once a survivor … Continue reading

Contemplating
Who was she, this gentle person, this feminine introvert, so introspective? Of what use was she, she who coveted time, time for contemplation over mass consumption? How was one to understand someone who roared inside, soared in her mind, and … Continue reading

Wrapped in the Velvet of Her Soul
She wasn’t what she seemed, she was that place where dreams went when they required a key, far away, yet, beneath a gentle touch amidst her heart’s glow, transformed, wrapped in the velvet of her soul. She’d become what she … Continue reading
Identities
We’re undercover operatives in life’s hide and seek clinging to the truth of who we are, but fearing should we speak. Having to justify our existence should we stray from the line, fearful that what other operatives see is our … Continue reading

The Story
There was a story they often told, they said it was her origin. They were wrong. Her story resided in a place they couldn’t see, it kept her alive when she should have died, when the lie they loved grew … Continue reading
