Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Close Enough to Imagine
She grieved love, the embrace she’d not known, the reassurance she longed to touch, to have near, tenderness like her own. There were times she’d watch it from afar, close her eyes to imagine it was hers, its arms about … Continue reading

The Wild Ride That’ll Be 2023
This is the goals post I’d hoped I’d never have to write, but here I am and here it is. That sounds awful, but in the end it’s all positive. No, I’m not giving up writing, but I am facing … Continue reading
Conjured of Dreams
It wasn’t what it seemed, that place she conjured in her dreams, real in the mind, existing out of time, a place she could touch, if she allowed herself to make it real. More than imagination, a need inside she … Continue reading

Anger Undone
It burst forth, molten hot. Anger! Every hurt. Every cruelty inflicted. Each time she was abandoned. In its wake, a question. Whispering waves. What was she doing? Reliving the past was letting them hurt her forever. The tears dried. She … Continue reading

For Someone
Somewhere in the world, distant though they might be, was someone waiting? She wondered sometimes. Could it be someone needed the story only she could tell? Their trust guided, held her tight, ever more so when times were hard, when … Continue reading

I Dream of Fulfillment
It’s a pretty simple statement. I dream of fulfillment. Maybe it’s not on everyone’s mind when they get up in the morning, but it’s on mine. Every—single—morning. That fulfillment is derived from story, of course. Be it drafting, revising, or … Continue reading
Charting a Better Course
It’s June, summer nears, and I passed a significant anniversary date on May 31st that was the beginning of something big. Yoga. A lot of people take up yoga to some extent or another, but my story also explores the … Continue reading

Midnight Clear
Hush now, dear one, listen, stars falling, gently settling, whispering their melancholy upon the earth. Go now, dear one, touch, a caress, a purpose, a precious wish is withering in your heart. Starlight, dear one, fulfillment, midnight clarity, possibilities, passions … Continue reading

How Writing Self-Therapy Saved Me
It’s interesting how my stories trigger these posts, even when the posts aren’t directly about them. This is a post about how the best therapy I’ve ever received was my own writing and how that led to creating my own … Continue reading
The Sound of Her Life
Who was she without life, purpose, or her identity? The sense of self she’d fought so hard to find they wanted to bury. Breathe, she’d breathe, she’d let the haters fade away, she’d remember all she’d done, all she had, … Continue reading
