Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

The Gentle Breeze
She’d not chase painful zephyrs, their destinations circling, they lied, hid their nowhere intentions, like her troubles running a track. Cross-legged in stillness, eyes fluttering towards closed, a reminder to not give chase, to instead let worries pass through. Let … Continue reading

Her Gateway
Peace. In times of crisis, peace. It was what she knew to do, but when thoughts scattered it was easy to forget, and so she had a plan, a plan that began with meditation. Meditation, her gateway to calm, to … Continue reading

Within the Present Self
She’d spent years searching for answers, seeking an invisible guide, her outstretched hand waiting. That hand remained empty until she clasped it with the other, discovering then that self-reliance existed between those hands. Her open eyes found inner strength, saw … Continue reading

Focus on the Now
Cross-legged on the floor, she clung to composure, a chaotic wind wanting to tear her world apart, carry her away. “Focus on the present, focus on the now.” The words burst forth, words once learned, words surfacing when she needed … Continue reading

Return
New life, it was contained in each new breath, each inhale an opportunity, each exhale the moment to begin. A heart in haste settled, synchronizing with her lungs, her mind settling while air flowed in and out. How strange, but … Continue reading

Forever Is

Anxiety Management Through a Cancer Scare
For someone who suffers from anxiety and can’t take medications for it, this last week was a long week, an extraordinary test of the coping strategies I’ve been employing since 2020. My cancer scare was thankfully no more than that, … Continue reading
The Fabric
Cross-legged on the floor, she quieted her mind, sought the fabric that was existence, that was the entirety of life. She was unique, gifted with meaning and purpose, bestowed with the knowledge she could create her future one act at … Continue reading
