Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Sketching a Functional City Map for Orientation and Reference
The city map. I can’t believe I’ve never focused on this topic before because the city map, or any one for a small area, is probably the most useful. World maps are glorious and epic, but for the writer, theres’ … Continue reading

Pannulus Map
In my efforts to add my major maps to the Map tab I now arrive at Pannulus. I can think of the Tremjara map as my epic achievement. Carrdia, being my first map, has, like its name, become a piece … Continue reading
Tremjara Map
After over a year I’ve realized that since moving back into my WP site that I never placed maps in the map menu. Whoops. So, it’s time to change that and a good place to start is with the largest … Continue reading
Limited Worldbuilding
So, I’m worldbuilding again. Well, kinda, but not exactly. Okay, I am, but I’ll call it limited worldbuilding. The reason is that the world already exists. Though, in the end, what I’m doing will benefit the world as a whole, … Continue reading

Ontyre Map Series 5 – Pannulus Emerges
We now come to the close of my not-so-little map series. I’m pleased to say we don’t close with a whimper, but with the map that most fires my fantasy map passions. The Pannulus map, in short, has a history … Continue reading

Ontyre Map Series 3 – Tremjara Evolution
Oh so giddy am I! This week I get to talk about present day Ontyre maps. Ontyre is my world and sharing the maps is a bit like me taking you there for a visit. As you may recall, the … Continue reading
Ontyre Map Series 2 – First Carrdia Efforts
My transition from real maps to fantasy maps happened in an instant the day I opened The Fellowship of the Ring and saw Middle Earth. It was a map of imagination itself. It was an I-need-to-sit-down moment. The Middle Earth … Continue reading
Ontyre Map Series 1 – Early Influences
Before my beloved Pannulus map there was the colorization of Ontyre, the revamped Ontyre map before that. Before my current maps there were all my mapmaking experiments over the course of a couple of decades. Before my maps, there were … Continue reading
