Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

What Will Be
Her imagination’s renderings, more or less, were her capturing more than anyone could guess. Her perspective’s interpretation, what she could see, was her dreaming what no one else could imagine seeing. Her sunrise’s inspiration, painted with optimism, was her vow … Continue reading

Searching for Wonder
It was there never seen, existing on the whisper of a thought, nonsensical to those lacking vision, her vision, her mind’s eye touching the impossible, allowing her inside. Magic was the irrational possible, imagination’s creation expanding, a thriving otherworld she … Continue reading
The Possible Impossible
Growing up, told, “No,” or told, they really didn’t care, and so, she took advantage of neglect, dared to dream, to imagine possible the impossible. Threatened men angered, for them she dumbed down, ending opinions with, “I don’t know,” when … Continue reading

Where the Nebulas Sing
How far might she go in a world where nebulas sing, the moon hovering near, and stars growing larger overnight. She’d always faced life flinching, the light blinding, the heat taking her breath until night soothed and whispered delight. When … Continue reading

The Places Only She Could See
In reality, there was what shouldn’t be, there behind her vision, forming a new existence, haunting the unguarded moments. In another place before the present, she’d tried to flee, to unsee the places only she could see in the fantastical … Continue reading

The Way Home
In a storm of infinite chaos, she was who she was, but didn’t know who she was. She knew honesty, knew the truth. She wasn’t being honest with herself. Beneath the intimate fears, she knew she was a she, a … Continue reading
Candles Standing
She knelt, candles standing, books animated in life, imagination melting in candle wax, each flame was a new chronicle in her hands, the fire wanting to sear her soul before phosphorescence broke down the door. She winced, candles still standing, … Continue reading

A Sleep. A Dream. An Idea.
Fantastical pneuma, where imagination left floating in perpetual motion became the stars of night lodged in her eyes. Her dancing, turning the darkness into creative delight where incantation was inspiration, a sleep, a dream, an idea. Watercolor oscillations, flowing on … Continue reading

The Moon and Stars
She breathed the remains of a night cloaked in creativity, the tea’s steam transforming shadows where the moon’s silver soothed. She sipped. The keyboard whispered. The cat purred. Beyond the pane, the stars reassured. Oh how the enchanted hours embraced … Continue reading

She Could SEE It
They told her it wasn’t real, but instead, her imagination. It didn’t matter. She could SEE it. People and places. Pasts, presents, and futures. They’d shared with her when she was there. When she’d SEEN them. So many voices whispering. … Continue reading
