Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

One by One
Her journey, taken alone, the haters screaming, others deserting, condemning, threatening, those promising support fading away, each one blinking out one by one. Maybe, just maybe, the fear was a blessing in fisted disguise, a caution, warning, inspiration to escape … Continue reading

Who She Ought to Be
The past was rife with shadows, ghosts waiting to claim her soul, baying wolves, their howls chasing her future, anticipating the kill. She ran through the forest, less fleeing from, more seeking the self beckoning, the self she ought to … Continue reading

Remembering Balance
Teetering at the maelstrom’s center, balanced at the edge in a tormenting wind, she set her heels down, her toes finding nothing to hold onto. She raised her hands in defiance, to proclaim herself whole. She wouldn’t give in, wouldn’t … Continue reading

Knowing Where to Look
Years became decades, empty steps on empty roads searching for her lost self, tear-filled breakdowns on a loop turning backwards, checking unwelcoming doors that refused to help. Doors became barriers, each voice on the other side new hatreds to endure, … Continue reading
The Way Home
In a storm of infinite chaos, she was who she was, but didn’t know who she was. She knew honesty, knew the truth. She wasn’t being honest with herself. Beneath the intimate fears, she knew she was a she, a … Continue reading
Internal Progression
Run. To run. Running. Oppression crushing, a step by step progression seeking sanctuary. Lifeless wanderer looking for life, her life, what it’d be to live without lies. Search. To search. Searching. Cradling self-awareness, carved staircase curling around truth denied. Each … Continue reading

Lifeforce
On her knees begging for acceptance, her heart’s depth her nakedness, the essence possessed was her lifeforce laid bare. Learning two reactions, those who turned away, those who faded, fading took time, the scars left behind draining her soul. Oh … Continue reading

The Space Between Whispers
The night was as it always was, captured in wishes, yearning for a miracle to deliver more than wanting, more than a tearful holiday begging for a self that was right, not wrong. She came in a dream of angels, … Continue reading

The Self-Made Prison
Looking back across the intervening years, she saw the prison she’d built for protection, each stone her own. Walls shielded her heart, her secret, the castle’s strength keeping life at bay, no one more tormented within than she. She tortured … Continue reading
