Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Conjured of Dreams
It wasn’t what it seemed, that place she conjured in her dreams, real in the mind, existing out of time, a place she could touch, if she allowed herself to make it real. More than imagination, a need inside she … Continue reading

Snow Vow
Verglas cheeks, knees in snow, veil coated eyes blinding the skies, a growl inside, tearing life’s fabric, or was it her dreams refusing to cry? Frozen fists, conifer sentinels unseen, vowed intent excising lingering lies, seething inside, a howl brewing, … Continue reading

The Frayed Line
Confusion, torment, soul bowed, ice falling as rain, drizzling eyes, they shimmered as streetlights on the pavement. Where to go when there was nowhere to go? Who to trust when trusting was dying before it could be said there was … Continue reading

The Sound of Her Life
Who was she without life, purpose, or her identity? The sense of self she’d fought so hard to find they wanted to bury. Breathe, she’d breathe, she’d let the haters fade away, she’d remember all she’d done, all she had, … Continue reading

2021: Editing, Worldbuilding, and Maybe More
These are uncertain times, but my purpose in 2021 is anything but uncertain. That purpose includes editing and catching up on the worldbuilding I’ve ignored for too long. Apply myself and I’ll be that much closer to publication. The General … Continue reading

Each Night, Each Day
Each night, in the shadow of her dream state, she battled the past’s threat, it’s childhood terrors, where she waited for her bedroom door to open. Each day, in the clarity of determination, she rebuilt her life anew, shouting defiance … Continue reading

My Accidental Accomplishment
Okay, a little fun this week (and a look at what a healthy writing habit can do for you). It is the end of the year, after all. Too, after the year we’ve had I need a joyful glance back … Continue reading
Climbing
She’d faltered, fallen, her soul pummeled, plundered, yet she remained, wounded, broken inside, but not ready to die within. Always climbing, ascending, her heart ragged, jagged, yet she continued on, haggard, because within was more than imagined. ©September 2014, June … Continue reading

Day 1 – My Corona Diary
Day1, social distancing. This is the reality of my life right now, as it is for millions upon millions of others. This is me adjusting to the new normal. This is gratitude, for I’m far more fortunate than many. It’s … Continue reading
