Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Her Consciousness Screamed
Her dream balance tipped, spilled into her waking hours, opening her eyes, not to mystery, but to a reality possessing no tolerance for creative minds like hers. Her consciousness screamed, keenly aware that her creative mind had no business being … Continue reading

When It Doesn’t Work—Until It Does
From the moment I published last week’s post I knew there was unfinished business at hand. That post, about finally unearthing a story for Following the Essence Stone, continues to fall into place. The narrative outline is done and I’m … Continue reading
Fixing a Timeline
Sometimes, instead of thinking outside the box, I have to find an old box to think in. My primary project at the moment is editing Riparia’s Bk3. I love the story, but I’m not sure I’ve written anything quite so … Continue reading
That Magic Place
Once upon a time, in a nightmare place, betrayed by those who should have loved her, she discovered a magical world, a refuge of love and found families. So very long after, she searched far and wide, her heart longing … Continue reading

A Moment of Creative Spark
Plot origins, where do they come from? The sparks that are mine come from a multitude of sources. They’re also elusive after the fact, dreams lost after waking if I don’t hold tight to them. That’s especially true of my … Continue reading
In Defense of Editing
In high school, oh how I detested editing, though then it always included rewriting. There were no laptops and desktops. I had an old manual typewriter, all my school papers had to be written by hand. Thus was my dislike … Continue reading

In Thanks For Every Tear
Yes, it’s an odd title for the final post of a horrific year. Yet, for me, it brings to mind what I’ll most remember about this year beyond the death and suffering. It’s what I’ll come away treasuring on the … Continue reading

A Different Kind of 10K Writing Challenge Gratitude
On December 21st I participated in the #10kWritingChallenge with four other writers and came away with a bit of a surprise that had nothing to do with numbers… First, though, the project. I’d already begun what I’d thought was novelette, … Continue reading
Resonate Universe
Her hands pressed to the wall. Passion on her fingertips. Her lungs retreating. Her heart surging. Swirling ideas, in a colorful caress. Exploratory touch, creative hunger. Sight behind her eyes, forbidden thoughts, a resonate universe, beyond the walls. ©August 2017, … Continue reading

Real is What Matters
Yeah, it’s getting real now. I’m always thankful for that because real is what matters most. I can’t believe it’s still been less than a month since I decided to create the supporting character of Talma Loyal while editing Pneuma … Continue reading
