Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

The Shining City on the Hill
The shining city on the hill. She believed. For, the city was hope, hope for her, for those who came after. They told her it was a myth, a lie, a fairytale, especially, they said, for people like her. The … Continue reading

America Dystopia
Looking back, she should’ve wept sooner, should’ve recognized her heart’s truth, that it was the thugs and criminals in power who were enabling the poison. She should’ve known, should’ve understood, that when someone casually ignores death, they’ve no respect for … Continue reading

Time to Save Ourselves
Behind each “can’t” is the truth that is “won’t,” a power that answers to “don’t.” Leaders who don’t lead tell those in need, they shouldn’t, knowing what they could share they wouldn’t. Absolutely, positively, it’s time we stopped listening. It’s … Continue reading

In the Gray Dawn
Gray dawn learning, waiting in the morning after when words long ignored whisper hope and linger. Standing in a new age, beyond those who wouldn’t act, those serving injustice, who couldn’t grasp: equality is also something you do. ©August 2015, … Continue reading
Self-Examination in a Time of Historical Change
In the midst of colossal, historic events I’ve retreated, not from the news, but to a place where I could learn and reflect (and also continue lockdown). My reflections first focused on myself, but later on my writing. Was I … Continue reading
Collective Strength
So long dismissed with condescending ridicule, described as unneeded by those who feared. Mistaken for a timid voice of weakness, yet millions of voices know the truth, voices still awaiting their rights. Time to free all of America, heal its … Continue reading

We the People
We the people are in a battle for our collective soul, for liberty and justice for all. At the heart of the matter, are those trying to save themselves while saving us all. Black lives matter. Without that basic principle … Continue reading
Teargas
She cried… that moment, a nation taking another step towards tyranny. It wasn’t because people protested for their rights, it was because they had to, because they were treated as the enemy in their own home. She cried… maybe it … Continue reading
Comparing
Interior, exterior, there’s no hiding when hateful actions tell the truth. Superior, inferior, if only there was a way to know? Ah, but there is, but it doesn’t show. Unless, of course, someone declares they’re superior, for that’s an … Continue reading
