Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Each Night, Each Day
Each night, in the shadow of her dream state, she battled the past’s threat, it’s childhood terrors, where she waited for her bedroom door to open. Each day, in the clarity of determination, she rebuilt her life anew, shouting defiance … Continue reading

Finding Hope in Despair While Waiting for Purpose
Hope and purpose. They’re the driving force behind my fantasy fiction, even if they aren’t explicitly stated. I already know how hope can endure despite the odds, and when it’s paired with purpose it becomes a force. Purpose can be … Continue reading

Faulty Logic
One eye black, one eye blue, bones fractured in places that weren’t new. He stood over her, fists clenched to show his remorse, said only he could save her from excessive force. She knew he was right as the light … Continue reading

Salvation’s Contrast
She’d known fists before her freedom and they’d known her name, the scars on the inside festering where she’d closed off hope. His tender touch, it was contrast afire. He opened her fears to future revelation, crafting doors with care … Continue reading

Remembering Oz
Kidnapped, or so she must have been, taken to a fearful place too many children know. Wondering why, yet never understanding, scared to face the night, though the days held more of the same. Waiting for Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and … Continue reading

A Child’s Guide to Survival
Be undemanding and forever helpful and let silence mark your presence. Cling to life’s darkest shadows, a small part of your penance. Cast your gaze downward, young dear, yet always display a smile. Show not that you’re living in fear … Continue reading

Wielding Determination Through the Anxiety
I really don’t know how else to begin this other than to say, at the moment I’m overwhelmed. It really doesn’t matter. I’ll get through. There’s little that I know better than how to survive. I’m a survivor. It’s what … Continue reading

Without Shame
Privilege came, indifference stayed, his power unearned he wielded without shame. He saw her in a way, that was to say, he didn’t see her at all in his rage. She saw him in ways, through her haze, he dismissed … Continue reading
