Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Killing Tale
Killing mice is no small thing, no trivial thing, and not to be taken lightly. And that is why I tell no lies about mice who die daily. I’m just a cat who likes to chat and that’s putting it … Continue reading

Santa Claws
Oh, Santa Claws, eating cookies and nip with glee while slurping your milk and leaving hairballs beneath the tree. Oh, Santa Claws, placing a loving purr in every gift, then shredding the paper and giving each ornament a special lift. … Continue reading

The Cat Brain Disconnect
In that public place where cat reporters like to shout, they plied me with questions before letting me out. They demanded details on the cat brain disconnect, so I smiled in my knowing and said, “Oh yeah, that. “It looks … Continue reading

Cat Contemplation
Cat consciousness was beyond defining, a way of thinking both humorous and devine, both mischievousness and purring affection at her side. There were times when she wondered at life —all the while knowing her cat wondered too— and found herself … Continue reading

Feline Devine
There were times when she attempted to define the creature at her feet or purring upon her spine. Into the feline divine she delved, a place of purring cat serenity sharing unexpected space with feline eccentricity. How to understand that … Continue reading

Kitty Ghosts
So long, so many years, memory fading, but not the faces, not the personalities, not ever the names. Each kitty a piece of her heart she’d never forget, each meow in expectation, each purr at night was another addition to … Continue reading

Kitty-Proof Christmas Tree
Dearest Santa, with your holiday wiles, know nothing of challenges, of holiday trials. You travel the globe each Christmas Eve, yet you’ve not designed the kitty-proof Christmas tree. Stockings, wreaths, less fun than branches. The night’s tolling tree bells forewarning … Continue reading

Attack of the Clawed Fuzzies
We thought we had a chance, we thought we’d survive, but when the clawed fuzzies attacked they wouldn’t be denied. Coming in the dead of night purring bewitching sounds, before we could escape they groomed and pulled us down. Some … Continue reading

Cats of My Heart
This is, quite simply, my ode to four of the girl cats who graced my life. These four were special to me. The ache in my heart says so. Why all girls? The bond. The male cats I’ve had were … Continue reading
