Buy

Buy, buy, buy,
and buy some more,
buy a bigger house,
fill the floors.

Keep it new,
keep you poor,
keep it disposable
and easily stored.

Build lots of sheds
to block the view,
work more hours
to pay for new.

See a counselor
to stay alive,
do anything
so buying thrives.

To empty shelves
and protect their wealth,
spend your life,
your mental health.

Hamsters running
as fast as we can,
when the running stops
the insanity ends.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

  1. The insanity only ends when we die, unfortunately.
