A Small Dark Place

It was something she did,
never questioning why,
finding a small dark place,
a safe place to drain her eyes.

It didn't purge the memories,
her reminders of abuse,
but brought important reminders
she could put to use.

That small dark place she cherished,
brought cleansing via the tears,
reminded her how far she'd come
and had stretched beyond her fears.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
