The Cat Brain Disconnect

Misha. Always thinking. Photo: CA Hawthorne
In that public place
where cat reporters like to shout,
they plied me with questions
before letting me out.

They demanded details
on the cat brain disconnect,
so I smiled in my knowing
and said, "Oh yeah, that.

"It looks like midnight runs
fleeing the hounds of hell,
their rolling eyes
steering them all pell-mell.

"Yeah, I've seen all that
and so much more,
like the infamous arched back
and the paw beneath the door.

"I could go on and on,
'cause, you know, the topic's ripe,
but the classic is the staring
like they've not seen you in their life."

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
