The Difference

In her mind,
which was more than she was
given credit for having,
she knew a central truth about herself,
about life,
that attraction was superficial
until it appreciated creativity and thought.

In her head,
a fascinating place too few people
bothered to explore,
there was fantasy and reality,
but no room
for lust masquerading as intelligence
because she was adept at recognizing the difference.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
