Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Special Place
Etherial meadows bathed in whispers, soft places wrapped in trees, passion a vista on her skin as she settled deeper into green. Cool water meandered, surging as blood running free. Clouds floating silhouette, fingers tracing ecstasy. Passion’s love found, bloomed … Continue reading

The Notorious Flashback
Given how I used to write, it’s strange to blog about the dangers and weaknesses associated with flashbacks. Back in the day, I was more than happy to spread them around willy-nilly. In the years that followed, I learned the … Continue reading
Clever
If and whenever, thinking herself endowed with clever, discovering the truth was more bitter than lies, the threadbare she owned was but rusted metal, the sword she was impaled upon. What they didn’t know, what her mind outside didn’t show, … Continue reading

IF
IF. One word, two letters. It appears in multiple well known phrases, but two, poles apart, have impacted my life the most. One phrase looks back, the other forward. One phrase would pull my life apart if I allowed it. … Continue reading
Focus on the Now

Determined Hope
To paraphrase the legendary Tina Turner, “What’s hope got to do with it?” Everything. Life experience has taught me that. In some circles, hope is simply optimism, a belief in a positive outcome. My view is a certainty that, if … Continue reading

Butterfly Spit
Oh, drat, what was that, that, that that just spat? Aw, shit, it’s butterfly spit. Eek, the dread, it was on her head. What a wacky notion to gain attention, supposing beautiful bugs could be brutish thugs. Their time in … Continue reading
