Kitty Ghosts

My favorite picture of Misha and I. Photo: CA Hawthorne
So long,
so many years,
memory fading,
but not the faces,
not the personalities,
not ever the names.

Each kitty
a piece of her heart
she'd never forget,
each meow in expectation,
each purr at night
was another addition to her life.

"Kitty ghosts"
sounded fanciful,
yet was somehow true,
every sound she heard,
every corner of her eye,
every beat of her heart brought a tear.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
