Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

2021? It Was About Following Through
It’s the end of December and here I am looking back (this week) and looking ahead (next week). Looking back at 2021, it was the year I became a full-time writer and, while its covid chaos outside my door, big … Continue reading
Kitty Ghosts
So long, so many years, memory fading, but not the faces, not the personalities, not ever the names. Each kitty a piece of her heart she’d never forget, each meow in expectation, each purr at night was another addition to … Continue reading

Peace
May peace find those I’ve lost, those I’ve loved, those I long to hold. May peace find friends, acquaintances, those with whom I don’t get along. May there be peace for one and all so this world we leave our … Continue reading
The Privilege of Giving
And so the year draws to an end and nature becomes a quieter place. As I draft this post it’s the Winter Solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s snowing. The countermelodies are the holidays and shopping mania, even … Continue reading
The Gifting
It was her spirit, she could hear it, calling to her from a place deep inside, begging her not to hide, begging her to open her soul to the world. It was a gifting, her heart lifting, finding love in … Continue reading

Kitty-Proof Christmas Tree
Dearest Santa, with your holiday wiles, know nothing of challenges, of holiday trials. You travel the globe each Christmas Eve, yet you’ve not designed the kitty-proof Christmas tree. Stockings, wreaths, less fun than branches. The night’s tolling tree bells forewarning … Continue reading

My Writing Fuel
Here I am on the other side of having accomplished what I’d had doubts I’d be able to do. I drafted the last two books in the Carrdia series back-to-back. I also did it in less time than I’d allotted. … Continue reading
Eternal Holiday
There was as there ever was eternal starlight, kisses in the night, whispers to caress her ears, tender touch tracing comet tails upon her skin, upon a deepening love ever after. There was as she’d always dreamed late night loving, … Continue reading

A Holiday Gift
She gasped, took a breath, but there was no air. A touch, a single touch, a gentle touch. A single word, a word for her. Her name. She stared, but the rational world held no answers. A chill, a single … Continue reading

Post #NaNoWriMo, Pre Finishing
Closer. Ever closer. That’s where I am in the last book of the Carrdia series. There’s a good chance I’ll reach the end by the time I post again. So, mid month, which was my hope. You know, so I … Continue reading
