Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Lips to a Thorn
Dreamscape on a knife edge slashing the past, her tranquility on fire, dense smoke haunting each night. Abusive memories on a blind path of sharp betrayal, replaying each night when she turned out the light. Each morning’s cure was to … Continue reading

What Is And Will Always Be The Goal – A NaNo Pep Talk
This is my last blog post before I enter the wilds of NaNoWriMo and beyond. It’s also always a good time to have a heart-to-heart with myself, to remind this sometimes insecure writer why I write. During NaNo I’ll still … Continue reading
Running Colors
Painting in the rain. Contained in the running colors was the life they’d imposed, never supposing, not the least bit caring, about the self inside. Washing the canvas clean. Teardrops, raindrops, never the same again. On her knees, lies running … Continue reading

Serial Killer Blues
Oh yes, oh my, another day to pretend, another day to lie. Did I shut off the stove and all that stuff? Did I bury the bodies deep enough? Oh my, oh gee, must not let on, let them see. … Continue reading

On the Road to #NaNoWriMo
If any of you are doing NaNo this year I hope you’re checking your calendar because it’s close. Even if you don’t do writing prep, I hope you’re churning ideas in your mind, especially that opening scene. It’s best if … Continue reading
A Touch of Witchcraft
Breathless. Phantom pulse. Her heart embracing illusions, a craving powering her thoughts. How could it be? A spell cast upon her, the caster knowing not what they’d done Witchcraft, to it she must resort, a potion for love, for her … Continue reading

The Vampire Blues
No tanning on the beach or I’m ashes on the news. Undead, gotta get a life, I’ve got the vampire blues. No skipping down the street on a sunny afternoon. No pulling up stakes after they’ve run me through. Missing … Continue reading

My Two-Novel Autumn Plan
The time is here, the time is now. That’s where my thinking is these days while I try to not let the moment become too big. I’m about to write two novels back to back, Riparia’s Bk4 (Aramon Daughters) and … Continue reading
Pluvial Night
Runaway, pluvial night. Cold in her bones. Unwanted. Undone. Uncertain life was worth another breath. Hurting to her soul. PTSD in the making. Each step, each raindrop, another reason to kneel in surrender. Awakening inner voice. Unforeseen inner strength. Walking … Continue reading

Transcending
She tried to hide, tried to be that peg for every hole, denying her heart, her soul, her truth. Templates were lies, erasing expression, erasing her life, when all she wanted was to be the true self within. True freedom … Continue reading
