Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Ink
Tomorrow place, forever land, a world of ink meant for pages, trauma transformed in meditation, what was once pain at last a hurt that passes through, a wound repurposed. Not a past rewritten, but a new perspective, tales for hearts … Continue reading

She Could SEE It
They told her it wasn’t real, but instead, her imagination. It didn’t matter. She could SEE it. People and places. Pasts, presents, and futures. They’d shared with her when she was there. When she’d SEEN them. So many voices whispering. … Continue reading

My September Motivation Series
I often share posts in October to help people avoid the pitfalls that cause so many to quit NaNoWriMo, typically, during the second week. Many months ago, though, I had a wild idea. What if I shared my top five … Continue reading
Between Edges
She traced edges, her finger jagged and unsteady, the mystifying way ahead bending corners. Sometimes, closing her eyes, it uncovered crystal life images she’d never seen. Why did life take so long to explain? Why was she taking so long … Continue reading

Victim No More
Shrinking, wilting, trapped in the darkness, cowering. Victim. Managed, abandoned, stamped with a label, damaged. Outcast. Hopelessness, lifelessness, assistance that fades away, faceless. Forgotten. Grasping, seeking, the fickle left behind, standing. Awakened. Pneuma, yoga, sparking the strength within, survivor. Worthy. … Continue reading
Opening My OLD Novel Vault
It isn’t so long ago I’d have thought this blog post too embarrassing to write, but at some point that changed (obviously). Now, I find I’m proud of all the writing that came before 2016, even if some of the … Continue reading
The Shared Place
Painful reality, a void expanding. Panic spreading, tingling. Numbness in her hands. Chaotic thoughts dwelling on society’s cruel hatred. Practiced self-care took over, saved her, even when thought was lost. So many likeminded, separated, alone. Might clarity through story turn … Continue reading

Visitation
Transparent silhouette, faithful apparition. Zealous, you were, in your devotion, as was your love so often. That last embrace lingers still, still my heart, catches my breath, though your arms aren’t here to hold me. You’ve become a caressing breeze, … Continue reading

Life Patterns, Story Patterns
Patterns. I see them. It’s less a superpower and more of a knack that surfaces when I nurture it. It’s quite real, though. I’m not possessed of some uncanny ability to take one glance at complex problems and instantly solve … Continue reading
Peaceful Resistance
Covering her ears, she knelt. Angry voices SCREAMING. Demanding! Wanting extremism, now! Even if that wasn’t her way. She found her breath. Held it. Exhaled slow. Her heart lifted, raised her to her feet, speaking in but a whisper. No, … Continue reading
