Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

In This Place
In this place, you are. Let all you can’t control flow through. Let go so as to control what you can. Let worry slip away. It does not serve you. It does not serve YOU. You are. You have endured. … Continue reading

She Remembered
She remembered. In that moment, she remembered. Part of her brain had urged her to forget, but she remembered anyway. Pieces at first. Fragments. A gasp, a tear without a home. What no one should recall, returned. To help heal … Continue reading

Tremjara Map
After over a year I’ve realized that since moving back into my WP site that I never placed maps in the map menu. Whoops. So, it’s time to change that and a good place to start is with the largest … Continue reading
Becoming
If not now, when? In the springtime of her mind, becoming who? Choosing, dream sleep stirring waking the way. A hand closing doubt. Sensation racing across an ebony sky, touching alabaster. A scream falling silent, tranquility’s fluttering wings. Emergence, wearing … Continue reading

Echo
She was but a sound, a melody within, harmony in the air, gentle words to settle, a whispered song, a subtle vibration. Through space and time her feminine compassion sought a neglected wall, not to block her potential, but to … Continue reading

Beyond the Draft
Here I go again, advocating for revising where, experience has taught me, most of the magic happens. In fact, I use the word editing less often these days because people more often associate that with looking for typos and poor … Continue reading

The Horizon Behind Her Eyes
The horizon behind her eyes, her vision there, her true self inside waving in the distance. Visible. Almost in reach. Clarity was calm. Distractions passed through. Knowing the truth, what she must do. Certainty urged mind climbing to thrive. She … Continue reading

Smoke on Fire
Whispers of love, smoke on fire, flames lighting her imagination, her hands untied. Truth’s invisible veil, rapture’s touch, finding a heart that was holding her tight, its answer burning. Passion breaths dancing, skin alight, truth ignited what hid in the … Continue reading

I Dream of Fulfillment
It’s a pretty simple statement. I dream of fulfillment. Maybe it’s not on everyone’s mind when they get up in the morning, but it’s on mine. Every—single—morning. That fulfillment is derived from story, of course. Be it drafting, revising, or … Continue reading
Her Course
Was life to mean fighting a current pulling her down, or sailing, her destination her own? Too often whispers declared her course erroneous, said she was deficient for being herself in peace. Peacefulness and kindness, though, opened the future wide, … Continue reading
