Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Catching-up to My Subconscious
Alas, yes, this is another story about me stumbling and bumbling my way only to realize what I should have known in the first place. I should probably think of myself as the little whirlwind who could. I get things … Continue reading

Caught Between

Mental Health UNawareness
TRIGGER CAUTION. This poem deals with abuse, self-harm, and suicide. Please remember that there’s a difference between awareness that intervenes and awareness that notes a life’s passing. I’ve witnessed those who knew better turn away, not just from me, but … Continue reading
The Immeasurable Value of the Companion Creature
The most difficult part about writing this blog post has been keeping it beneath an insane length. I wanted a little fun this week and nothing is more fun than animal companions (sidekicks), especially in fantasy where you can really … Continue reading

In a Room Meant for One
In a room meant for one, the storm within shared space with dysphoria, the face looking back not her own. In a room holding two, other thoughts wrestled her own, the other voice accepted by those who didn’t know the … Continue reading

How Writing Self-Therapy Saved Me
It’s interesting how my stories trigger these posts, even when the posts aren’t directly about them. This is a post about how the best therapy I’ve ever received was my own writing and how that led to creating my own … Continue reading
The Sound of Her Life
Who was she without life, purpose, or her identity? The sense of self she’d fought so hard to find they wanted to bury. Breathe, she’d breathe, she’d let the haters fade away, she’d remember all she’d done, all she had, … Continue reading

Holding Rain
Waiting in the rain, tears collecting in her hand, waiting for her One, her someone, for no one. Someone for everyone, wasn’t that what she’d heard? If that was so, maybe her One had lost their way? Maybe she had … Continue reading
