When the Mirror Lies

In her midnight childhood,
the truth
she couldn’t explain,
the truth
that’d be her end
if she did.

Each thought was two,
one formed
in her own words,
the other
edited to expectations
to save her life.

The mirror’s image exposed
the lie,
so she closed her eyes
to see
the she that she was
on the inside.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
