Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Passing Through
Breathing, seeking focus. Air in, air out, her body settling, escaping the chaos, though an unwanted thought appeared. Isolated, she examined it and bid it farewell as it passed through and her lungs filled again. Breathing. ©June 2015, March 2021 … Continue reading

Fixing a Timeline
Sometimes, instead of thinking outside the box, I have to find an old box to think in. My primary project at the moment is editing Riparia’s Bk3. I love the story, but I’m not sure I’ve written anything quite so … Continue reading

Looking
He looked at her seeing someone else, someone ideal, someone she couldn’t be. He depended on her, someone to be useful, someone who’d wait when he was with someone else. He looked for her, but she wasn’t there, she’d looked … Continue reading

The Year of Fear that Became Creative Redemption
This is about my ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, but it’s also about writing. Oh, but that’s just the beginning because, in the end, it’s about my writing salvation. At the moment the walls were closing in I found purpose. How ironic … Continue reading
That Magic Place
Once upon a time, in a nightmare place, betrayed by those who should have loved her, she discovered a magical world, a refuge of love and found families. So very long after, she searched far and wide, her heart longing … Continue reading

Attack of the Clawed Fuzzies
We thought we had a chance, we thought we’d survive, but when the clawed fuzzies attacked they wouldn’t be denied. Coming in the dead of night purring bewitching sounds, before we could escape they groomed and pulled us down. Some … Continue reading

How Targeted Worldbuilding Aids My Storytelling
Worldbuilding is more than magic, it’s about choosing the right bedrock to build your stories upon. This became more clear to me when I began experimenting with my approach to revising. In the past, I’ve either worked on Carrdia novels … Continue reading

Lines of Time
She traced the line, wondering how so many years fit inside, some moments faded, some jaded, some protecting her heart from those cutting deep enough to leave a line, her line, a line that defined all she’d come to be. … Continue reading
