She was She

A dream?
 Not a dream.
 One eye cracked
 revealing a dream come true,
 affirming a truth.

 She was she,
the she she was supposed to be,
 she’d found herself,
 despite those
 who’d opposed her being free.

 She’d waited all her life
 to be right,
her real life the life going forward,
 in the dream,
as the she she was supposed to be.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Poignant piece. It really captures the realization of one’s self and defying the limitations of other’s expectations. Meeting the dream by making the dream real. Very nice!
