Christina Anne Hawthorne
Christina Anne Hawthorne
Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.

Cover Me
We may be. One night you’ll cover me. It’s a vision, us, a fountain flowing, moonlight glowing. A gentle caress, a sizzling touch riding a wave, your pulse within me. A heart, my heart, you mending before I know I’m … Continue reading

Emotional Contrast
Sometimes, when I least expect it, I’m struck by an aspect of writing I’ve long taken for granted. In this case, it’s what I’ll call emotional contrast. I often set humor beside sadness, for instance, so as to play one … Continue reading
Her Life
She felt it all, each gentle current and buffeting wind, for she was in a fragile place while dying. There was the raging storm outside, it assailed with its fists. There was the dysphoric storm inside, it clawed at her … Continue reading

In Memory
In that moment so brief in our lives my heart thawed because you found my light. I wanted to embrace you, but darkness fell and we passed out of sight. New paths carried us in opposing directions, taking us farther … Continue reading

How I Found Time
I’m at the doorstep of five months in lockdown. That’s five months in isolation given I live as alone as it’s possible to be. Time, though, I’ve had tons of time. No partner, children, or job. My editing hours should … Continue reading

WHY?
Time, ticking. Lives slipping away. It’d been building for some time. Deep inside were the cries. She’d had enough. The questions she had were despised. Why? There was no answer. There could be NO answer. Why couldn’t we respect one … Continue reading

Holding Hope
Who was she that she should harbor possibilities? Why should she possess the hope others couldn’t see? Maybe, if she recorded her heart, set down her tales, maybe, it could be, what flowed from within would fill other hearts. What … Continue reading
