Looking back,
she should’ve wept sooner,
should’ve recognized her heart’s truth,
that it was the thugs and criminals in power
who were enabling the poison.
She should’ve known,
should’ve understood,
that when someone casually ignores death,
they’ve no respect for life.
Life, equality, freedom,
they mattered,
like Black Lives Mattered.
If she’d wept sooner maybe she could have avoided
America Dystopia.

About Christina Anne Hawthorne

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
