World Building Chat

And now for something completely different…

Okay, not completely, but different. Leading up to Camp NaNoWriMo I recently led a chat on Twitter concerning world building and made slides for the talk so I thought I’d share them here with all of you. The points are self-explanatory, and while I believe they cover a lot, I make no claim that they’re comprehensive. It’s more of a World Building 101. There’s no delving into characters, clichés, or tropes, for instance.

Keep in mind that my divisions for the purpose of making the slides were often arbitrary. All of these topics are interrelated and overlap. Still, they’re, at the least, a good starting point. So, here we go.

About Ontyre Passages

Alive and well in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a fantasy writer who also dabbles in poetry, short stories, and map making. My Ontyre tales are an alternative fantasy experience, the stories rich in mystery, adventure, and romance. Alternative fantasy? Not quite steampunk. Not quite gothic. In truth, the real magic is in those who discover what's within.
